You Swirl, Sniff and Sip. We Drive!

Wine Your Way Tours is a Kelowna based wine tour company. Although our home is Kelowna, we are happy to start from wherever you are laying your head! If you are here on vacation or simply enjoying a “sick day” there is something for everyone. At Wine Your Way Tours we focus on you!

We invite you to have a gander at Our Tours, but keep in mind we are fully customizable! Not just in what we see, or taste but in how much you learn. You can always play stump the Sommelier! What’s a Sommelier you ask, some say a wine expert, some say a wine snob, but I assure you ~ we are taking the snob right out of wine!

Shalyn Syrjanen-Ross

Let me introduce myself, my name is Shalyn. I have worked in the service industry since 1995 in Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Alberta and now British Columbia. My family and I moved here so I could pursue my true passion, wine. I will admit I sometimes love it a little more than I do my husband! Just like the moment I fell in love with him, I can tell you the exact moment I fell in love with wine. After realizing that it wasn’t a passing love, I decided to pursue becoming a Sommelier, I received my designation through the International Sommelier Guild in 2011. My goal is to have fun while we learn about the many sub regions within the Okanagan and that when we are done you too will see how amazing and intriguing wine truly is.

David Ross

My husband David is a native of Edmonton, Alberta. He acquired his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta School of Business. In an attempt to try and keep up with me; he has received his Wine Fundamentals level 1 certificate from the International Sommelier Guild. He may not be able to answer all of your wine questions, but ask him to build you an intricate spreadsheet and you’ve got it made! David has also spent many years in the service industry so as you can imagine, we both understand how important customer service and satisfaction truly are.

Tom Kliner (aka Santa Tom)

Santa Tom loves the Okanagan! While not exactly a Sleigh ride (that’s a different season and you’re all grown up now), tour with somebody that has over 40 yrs experience sharing the Okanagan, much of it by the glass. Knowledgeable and entertaining with customer service a priority you will be whisked about the Okanagan Wineries fitting wines to your particular palette.

When not chatting with amazing people from around the globe you can often catch me with my hair tied back riding my Harley throughout the Okanagan. If I take a break from a ride you may catch me partaking in my other love...photography!

Certified Sommelier

Becoming a Sommelier is not just drinking a lot of wine! I received my designation through the International Sommelier Guild, completing all three levels of the offered program. One day I would love to become one of their instructors, as I can’t think of anything better than continuing sharing my love of wine with anyone that will listen!

Becoming a Sommelier is not all fun, there is a lot of preparation needed and even more studying. I would say that for every hour spent in the classroom another two were spent at home reading. I will admit that the amount of wines I was able to try made studying and learning a little more enjoyable!

Learning about wine is so addicting, there is so much to learn and it is forever changing. I would also like to pursue getting a second designation through WSET, Wine and Spirit Education Trust. I am proud to say that as of March 2013, I am on my way. I now hold the WSET Advanced certification!
